Language Certificate

As a rule, your foreign language proficiency level should be at least B2.

Top Myths of Academic Mobility:

I am not confident in my level of foreign language proficiency.
  • You can try participating in Youth Exchange Erasmus+ programs (soft skills development) and volunteer programs, which have more flexible language proficiency requirements.
  • A competitive selection process is held before the start of the program, during which your foreign language proficiency is assessed. Based on the results, you will immediately understand your level and, if necessary, receive advice on improving your skills.
  • The vast majority of opportunities abroad are conducted in English, including programs at our partner universities.
  • Learning a new language is one of the benefits of participating in international exchange.
  • Many programs offer additional language courses.
  • The German DAAD service offers a range of academic mobility programs specifically in German.
Many opportunities are available for first-year students, including the following programs:
  • UGRAD (studying in the USA)
  • YouthExchange Erasmus+ (soft skills development)
  • Volunteer programs (teaching in foreign schools, kindergartens, etc.).

A number of programs offer scholarships for studying and cover travel and living expenses, including Erasmus+, DAAD, Latvian Scholarship, UGRAD, Slovak National Scholarship, Visegrad Fund, and many others.

  • You can participate in short-term programs (one to two weeks) that will not directly impact your studies.
  • During your participation in an academic mobility program, you can switch to an individual study schedule, allowing you to combine studies at SumDU and a foreign university.
  • The mobility program provides for the credit transfer of subjects studied at the foreign university to the corresponding ones at SumDU.
  • The soft skills and intercultural experience gained through mobility programs complement your academic skills and enhance your competitiveness in the future job market.
  • Before and during the mobility program, you receive continuous support from your mentors and the SumDU International Office.
  • #Inquisitives always help each other and have their own international alumni network that shares insights about program participation.
